Gender Studies Program, Sociology Department, Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University

Gender studies at the Masaryk university is the first gender studies program established in the Czech Republic (in 2003). It is accredited as an undergraduate program with strong base in sociology (conceptual and methodological). It is a teaching and research oriented program that covers areas such as class, sexuality, education, masculinity studies and sociology of medicine. Its curriculum cultivates critical thinking that fosters deeper understanding of the world we live in and inspires social change. Our undergraduate program prepares students theoretically and methodologically to be able to analyze gender relevant social problems. BA graduates might continue in a graduate program of Sociology with gender specialization track at the Department of Sociology of our Faculty.
